Global Travel Advisor Day Provides Opportunity to Celebrate Immense Impact to the Travel Industry

50 percent of Americans say they are more likely to use a travel advisor than they were in the past, a trend that continues as Americans list travel as their top discretionary spend.

San Juan, Puerto Rico, May 1, 2023 – The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the 2023 ASTA Global Convention. Over 500 travel advisors and almost 900 total attendees have gathered for a full program on May 2 to May 4, including a packed general session program, educational breakout sessions, incredible local entertainment and tour opportunities and the opportunity to network with fellow travel professionals.

The convention is being held at the Puerto Rico Convention Center with hotel accommodations nearby at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel and Casino, Aloft San Juan, Hyatt Place San Juan and Hyatt House San Juan. A full list of event sponsors can be found at ASTAGlobalConvention.org.

Sandra McLemore of Travel Marketing & Media will serve as both the emcee of the program as well as the keynote speaker.

Global Convention also serves as the society’s annual awards show, and ASTA plans to hand out the following honors at AGC 2023: Consortia Partners of the Year, Host Partners of the Year, The Robert Duglin Chapter Excellence Award, The President’s Travel Advisor Leadership Award, The AIG Service Pin Award, the Entrepreneur of the Year Award sponsored by the Dan and Gloria Bohan Foundation, Travel Advisor of the Year, Partner Company of the Year and Partner Representative of the Year.

In addition to normal convention business, the Society will also be celebrating Global Travel Advisor Day (May 3) onsite and online with a full slate of programming in partnership with Sandals Resorts. ASTA On Air will be live from Puerto Rico with host Sandra McLemore and correspondent (and “Chief Fun Officer”) Alle Pierce.
