On May 16, a new U.S. Department of Transportation ("DOT") rule went into effect consolidating separate passenger notice requirements for liability from death or injury and liability from damage to baggage into a single notice requirement that better reflects the current international landscape. It will require airlines to revise their paper tickets and jackets, e-tickets, confirmation emails, and airport signage. Agencies using GDSs or other third-party solutions outside the GDS for air ticketing will need to ensure those systems are updated and compliant with the verbiage requirements. Consult your GDS or other service provider for details, and see below for more information.
