Travelers getting burned left and right when they book online, or worse when something completely out of their control happens to their trip and they’re left on their own to figure it out. Or when a traveler thinks they’re getting a good deal, only to show up and find that nothing is what it appeared online.

Travelers don’t have to do it themselves! You can avoid costly disasters and booking mistakes when working with a professional.
To illustrate this point, we’re asking contestants to share their worst travel disasters. If you want to redeem your vacation, we want to help!
The rules are simple:
The winner will be announced on August 1, 2019.
According to ASTA research in our annual “How America Travels” study, consumers are increasingly turning to travel advisors as sources of insider destination expertise and custom services. This moves travel advisors’ role within consumers’ travel planning journey “upstream” away from the booking stage, and closer to travel planning and inspiration.
39% of travelers who use a travel advisor cite that it’s because of the high level of service advisors provide. Travelers also like having someone to assist if travel disruptions occur (35%) and with booking an unfamiliar destination (32%).
According to the 2018 study, top reasons for travel advisor non-users to start using one include help booking unfamiliar destination (42%), expert/insider information on destinations (40%), access to hotels, airlines and cruises (33%) and upgrades and/or amenities (33%).
Rebranded in 2018 as the American Society of Travel Advisors, ASTA is the leading global advocate for travel advisors, the travel industry and the traveling public. Its members represent 80 percent of all travel sold in the United States through the travel agency distribution channel. Together with hundreds of internationally-based members, ASTA’s history of industry advocacy traces back to its founding in 1931 when it launched with the mission to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective representation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism.
