As you are likely aware, we are facing an urgent legislative challenge in the State of California. In 2018, the California Supreme Court issued a decision that threatens the business model of travel agencies in California that rely on independent contractors (ICs) to sell travel, known as the Dynamex decision. Legislation to "codify" the holding in the Dynamex decision (Assembly Bill 5) – making it applicable to nearly everyone in every industry – is currently making its way through the California Senate.
To help ASTA with its advocacy efforts, we are launching a survey to assess the impacts of this legislation on our industry. Whether you live in California or not, please take a moment to complete a brief survey to help us understand how various business models in our industry could be affected.
