ASTA and The Company Dime Join Forces to Research Adoption of Managed Business Travel

Today, the American Society of Travel agents (ASTA) and The Company Dime are announcing a groundbreaking research partnership focused on the barriers and opportunities related to converting “unmanaged” business travel to managed travel. The partners seek to understand the reasons businesses large and small implement travel management practices.
“Helping our members grow their business is at the core of ASTA’s mission,” said Zane Kerby, ASTA President and CEO. “As the national trade association for travel agencies of all shapes, sizes and business models, we are excited to partner with the team at The Company Dime to tackle this critical challenge in the corporate space and further strengthen ASTA’s role as a thought leader in the industry.”
“New tech tools have brought the concept of business travel management to a wider audience, blurring the line between unmanaged and managed approaches,” said The Company Dime journalist and Co-Founder David Jonas. “Technology is just one component. We’re excited to support ASTA in researching how and why companies adopt centralized practices.”
The primary goal of the project is to provide business insights to travel agencies. The research will include a survey and interviews with travel management company executives about how their value propositions meet client needs.
A subgroup of ASTA’s Corporate agenty Council – comprised of Gloria Bohan (Omega World Travel), Craig Carter (Luxe Travel Management), Marc Casto (Casto Travel), Chris Dane (Hickory Global Partners) and Denise Jackson (Balboa Travel Inc.) – is acting as the Steering Committee for the project. The project’s findings will be unveiled during ASTA’s Premium Business Summit, June 5-6, 2017 in Washington, D.C. The Summit will feature a panel discussion with industry experts, led by The Company Dime.
Corporate-focused agencies who are not members of ASTA but would like access to this critical research are urged to become a member today.
