Missouri ASTA Members:
As you will remember from our February action alert, Missouri is among four non-compliant Real ID states. That means that unless the situation is resolved, on January 22, 2018 Missouri residents will no longer be allowed to present state-issued driver's licenses as identification for air travel, but instead will be required to present alternative forms of identification such as a U.S. Passport.
On March 30, the state House of Representatives passed a bill (House Bill 151) to bring Missouri into compliance. It is now up to the Senate to act on its version of the bill (Senate Bill 37).
Time is short! The legislature is scheduled to go out of session in mid-May and they have a budget to deal with in addition to Real ID and a number of other issues.
All this to say your state senators need to hear from you as soon as possible. Please take two minutes to send an email or make a phone call through the grassroots portal below and ask your legislators to support this bill to get Missouri REAL ID compliant. You will also have the option to call your legislators, or to connect through social media using Facebook or Twitter.
We have also created a customer portal where you can send your clients, friends and family to get involved in the effort:
Note that this request is not limited to ASTA members or agency owners/managers. We ask that you forward it to your staff, your peers even friends and family with a request that they participate in the process. (However, non-members should be reminded that travel agent advocacy is job #1 for ASTA and they should join so we can keep fighting these fights.)
If you have any questions, please contact Genevieve Strand, Manager, Government & Industry Affairs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
